COVID: States of Exception and the Common Good

March 31, 2022 -
8:00pm to 9:00pm

Jason T. Eberl, PhD
Professor of Health Care Ethics and Philosophy
Saint Louis University

Abstract: The COVID pandemic has presented one of the biggest challenges that the world has faced in the contemporary era.  Extreme times do call for extreme measures – but just how extreme should these measures be and how long should they last?  States of exception are a vague and indeterminate way of putting culture and politics on hold.  Was our response to COVID such a state?  If it was, is it still going on and how long ought it to last? This discussion with Dr. Eberl will be moderated by physician and bioethicist Jeffrey P. Bishop.
