Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Services Ethics Grand Rounds
Bethany Corbin, JD, LLM

Abstract: Though the social significance of the female body has changed over time, undercurrents of power, control, and stigmatization remain constant. With the digital revolution, new technologies threaten to oppress and quantify women under the guise of liberation. The female technology (femtech) market promises to increase scientific and women’s own understanding of their bodies and to destigmatize their sexuality but is rife with the inaccurate and stereotypical assumptions about women’s health and women’s preferences. This talk will examine biases informing femtech and femtech’s social and ethical implications.
