Abstract: The Social Justice and Tech Reading Group, based in the School of Computing and Information, will be reading and discussing Digital Divisions: How Schools Create Inequality in the Tech Era (Chicago: University of Chicago Press, 2020). This inaugural meeting of the reading group will focus on Chapters 1-2 of Rafalow’s exploration of racial and socio-economic dimensions of access to digital technologies in schools. A second meeting of the group to continue the discussion will be on November 13 at the same time.

Rafalow’s text is available for free as an eBook through the University Library System, and students can enter a drawing for a free print copy of the book by registering.
