The Give and Take: Ethical Issues in Pediatric Transplant

July 21, 2023 (All day) to July 22, 2023 (All day)

18th Annual Seattle Children’s Pediatric Bioethics Conference

This year’s conference will focus on issues that surround solid organ transplantation involving children. It will address questions such as:

  • Can criteria such as citizenship, cognitive disabilities, mental health, or the absence of social support be used to decide who qualifies for a transplant?
  • Should children be given priority over adults for transplantation?
  • Should vaccination against infectious diseases that might pose a risk to transplant recipients, like COVID-19 or varicella, be required of recipients, family members, and caregivers?
