Precision Genetic Care, Genital Morphology, and Gonadal Atypia: Variations of Sex Development as a Cancer Predisposition Syndrome

October 21, 2022 -
12:00pm to 1:00pm

Louisa C. Pyle, MD, PhD
Division of Human Genetics and the Roberts Individualized Medical Genetics Center
Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia

Louisa C. Pyle, a clinical geneticist and physician scientist specializing in genetics of genitourinary differences and cancer, will introduce some of the latest genetic research on intersex and disorders of sex development, as well as her experience caring and advocating for patients who receive diagnoses of these conditions. She argues that researchers much consider not only diagnostic evaluation, but also the mental health, neurodevelopmental needs, and quality of life for patients with unique medical and social needs in a changing landscape of care.
