Abstract:  How did Pittsburgh become the center of the polio vaccine? How did a changing America alter the trajectory of the “War Against Polio?” Produced by University of Pittsburgh doctoral students, this archive-inspired staged reading draws on the Max A. Lauffer Papers from Hillman Library’s Archives & Special Collections to tell the story of Jonas Salk and Pitt’s polio team. Following the reading there will be a talkback session with archivists accompanied by light refreshments.
