Abstract: A founding premise of the medical liability system is that it makes healthcare safer. Providers are supposed to respond efficiently to the threat or experience of being held liable for malpractice—but do they? This session will review the evidence and explore why tort law’s safety mission may be faltering in healthcare.
Space is limited for this Center for Bioethics & Health Law colloquium. Respond to bioethics@pitt.edu to attend. Feel free to bring your lunch; dessert and soft drinks will be served.
