David Orenstein is the Antonio J. and Janet Palumbo Professor of Cystic Fibrosis and Director Emeritus of the the Antonio J. and Janet Palumbo Cystic Fibrosis Center. He is also Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, School of Medicine, and in the Department of Health and Physical Activity, School of Education, University of Pittsburgh. He is Chair of the Ethics Committee at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC. His research interests include the effects of exercise on young patients with respiratory disorders, particularly cystic fibrosis (CF), and the quality of life of patients with CF. He is also interested in teaching patients and families about their medical problems, again with a particular focus on CF. Dr. Orenstein has published more than 200 journal articles, abstracts, reviews, and book chapters on a variety of topics related to children’s lung disorders. He has published three books on cystic fibrosis; one is a guide for patients and their families (now in its fourth edition).
