Abstract: More industries, including healthcare, are now requiring retirement at a specified age. There is evidence that certain skills deteriorate with time, leading to concerns that with age will come errors that put patients at risk for harm. There has been push back against mandatory retirement from healthcare professionals based on legal, ethical, safety, and validity concerns. This presentation will review and challenge the current rise in age-related mandatory testing and mandatory retirement.
