Ethical Issues in Uterine Transplantation and Innovative Research in Reproductive Medicine

September 5, 2019 -
11:00am to 5:15pm

Abstract:  This will be an interactive conference focusing on the study and implementation of novel medical therapies, specifically ethical issues associated with the design and conduct of uterus transplantation, with applications for innovative research in reproductive medicine. Uterus transplantation will be used as a case example for understanding ethical issues in the study and translation of new medical science and technology in women’s health specifically and medicine more broadly. The conference will include discussions about women’s health, reproductive autonomy, maternal-fetal and pediatric ethics, and pregnancy and motherhood, in addition to issues related to insurance coverage for innovative medical therapies and potential future transgender applications of uterine transplantation.
